The BHPBIO Mooka Ore Car Repair Shop Buildings and Facilities project, located approximately 30km South of Port Hedland, comprises of a large maintenance workshop, office, warehouse, light vehicle refuel and wash down facilities, laydown yards and ancillary support buildings and structures.
A substantial power distribution system was required to accommodate the large load associated with the site, which comprised of one 8MVA 22/11kV substation and four 1.5MVA 11/0.415kV substations. Additional challenges included a highly serviced 12,500+sqm Workshop, a large communications room and associated 200kVA UPS backup power system, and an extensive external laydown areas requiring a highly illuminated LED lighting solution.
ETC were engaged to provide detailed design and construction support for the above, including HV and LV distribution, earthing, lighting and building services.
