The design solution developed and proposed by ETC Solutions and Perth Concert Hall staff surrounded the replacement of the existing incandescent lighting with new colour changing and individually programmable DMX dimmable RGBL (Lime) LED luminaires.
The introduction of full colour changing LED luminaires was crucial in being able to deliver 2300 - 2700K colour temperature and its visual impact on surrounding surfaces. Each LED luminaire was to be integrated into both the House lighting control and DMX Theatre Lighting control system, allowing the lighting to be used for both general pre / post shows and during performances.
In order to satisfy the projects lighting criteria and operational needs a collaboration between ETC, PCH staff and lighting equipment suppliers, saw a one for one replacement of the existing incandescent luminaires with new colour change RGBL LED luminaires. New 2700K LED luminaires were an addition to the original lighting to deliver sufficient illumination for reading throughout the entire auditorium.
The project success has been overwhelming in its ability for the auditorium lighting to contribute to the Theatrical Lighting Choreography as an extension of the Stage lighting and demonstrates how functional and decorative lighting can be seamlessly integrated to enhance the viewers visual experience.
