The Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre (YHIDC) project is a detention facility to accommodate 600 maritime arrivals and is located approximately 5km from the town of Northam. It comprises of accommodation units, communal facilities, administration and support buildings, and security infrastructure.
ETC were engaged to provide detailed design and construction support for the design of electrical services for the project, which included a 3.2MVA 22kV underground distribution system and associated substations, low voltage power reticulation and emergency backup diesel powered generation systems. Additional scope included lighting design for the various external sports facilities, external security lighting and associated interfaces with the security system, and general building services for the numerous central facilities.
