Heritage PROJECTS Perth Town Hall
Project categories

The Perth Town Hall, is one of only six state capital Town Halls in Australia. Built between 1868 and 1870, it is one of the earliest remaining public buildings in Perth. The Town Hall was regarded in its time as one of the most complex and accomplished architectural commissions in the state.

The challenge presented to ETC on this project was to provide an electrical and lighting design that complemented the heritage of one of Perth’s oldest and iconic buildings, whilst integrating all the technological features of a modern Public and stage performance facility without detracting from the buildings unique character.

A fully programmable computer based lighting control system was also incorporated into the building’s lighting design to allow for dimming and preset lighting modes to be accessed with just the touch of a button or remotely controlled via modem for off-site technical support. This system minimises energy by automatically reducing the number of lighting circuits operating during the summer months and increasing them again during winter.
